May Wrap-up [2016]

MAY 2016.png

Hey there!

So May is officially over, and it hurts. I know most of you guys are happy because it’ll be summer there soon but for me June marks the resume of classes. *quietly sobs*

But we are not here for that sad news, WE ARE HERE TO LOOK BACK ON THE AWESOME MONTH OF MAY! Seriously May was an amazing bookish month for me because (1) I read a handful of books, (2) I started this blog, and (3) I discovered this wonderful community!

Okay now, let’s look back on all the book reviews and other bookish stuff that I posted last month.

Picture2 (3)

Picture7I read a total of 12 books last May and I’m a little proud of myself but also a bit disappointed. I wish I could have squeezed a few more books. But anyways, I’m now at 63% in my Goodreads challenge with 13 books ahead of schedule.

Here are my May reads and book reviews:

Picture5Okay so Genie Reads will be celebrating its first month on a couple of days! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?! I MADE IT, I SURVIVED MY FIRST MONTH! If you missed my first ever post (aka the most awkward post ever)just click here. One month later and I’m still pretty much clueless on what I’m doing, but you guys have been super awesome. I love interacting with you guys so much, I also discovered a lot of books because of this community. And I was notified a few days ago about getting 1000 likes. Why and how I managed to unlock this achievement is still a mystery for me but one thing’s for sure this wouldn’t be possible without you awesome bloggers! So thank you so so so much for liking and reading my posts! I’m so excited to spend more time with you guys, I’ll definitely be posting more stuff this June.

I’m planning to do some improvements on my blog this month and I might make a Twitter account purely dedicated to bookish stuff because I feel like I’m missing a lot of things there haha. So we’ll see what will happen.

So summer is over *silently cries*, and I’ll be returning to school this month. But I’m still pushing through my summer reading list before school starts. I‘m super excited to start reading Cinder, I have heard a lot of love and great things from the series so my expectations are definitely high.

I might be slightly less active this month because of school, but I promise to do my best to fulfill my responsibilities as blogger! You’ll still see me lurking around your posts.

My classes starts on June 13, and I’m dreading it. I’m a Grade 11 student (STEM track), and there’ll be a lot of adjustment for me but I’ll hopefully get through them.

So there goes my May Wrap-up, it was definitely a productive and awesome month for books and blogging! Hope you too had an awesome month! Let me know all about it in the comments.

I wish all of us to have an amazing June, may the odds be ever in our bookish favor! So that’s a wrap guys! Thanks for reading.

Please do leave any comments, thoughts, messages, reactions, and/or suggestions! Thank you for reading. Until next time,

  1. UGH! My first words when June came: CRAP! Back to school again… Hahaha… Also, is Finding Audrey good because I’m trying to read it? Also, enjoyed the post, as usual!

    • School 😑, but it’s fine because I’m already so bored at home. 😂 Oh my, I just noticed my typo this morning on my rating on Finding Audrey, it’s actually 3 stars. Yes, it’s a fun read and it deals with mental illness in a lighter tone. Haha, thank you! 😄

  2. This was a great list. I haven’t read any Morgan Matson, her books seem too close to reality for my liking. And I’m curious as to why you have school in June, I always started school in September.

  3. I ❤ this post so much. I started my blog in May too–last May but still. Must be something about spring that gets us all itchy to try new things. Okay, so I just want to say your blog looks so pretty, and you have amazing taste in books. Seriously, all your May reads (and 12 is a lot!) look so good, Speak and Square Root of Summer being the two I'm most curious about.Seeing that you gave Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock five stars def. got me interested in reading that book as well. I'll look forward to reading your review of it.

    • Thank you so much! Oh that’s really interesting to hear, we don’t experience Spring here in my country but I love the idea of it. Aww, you’re so kind! Thanks. Those two books are really very great reads, you should definitely give them a try. Yes, I loved reading Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock though I’m really having a hard time doing a review for it (I’m currently working on it lol).

And sorry for the late reply, I checked my spam comments for the very first time today and found your comment, which I have no idea on why and how it was there.

      • Haha I remember being frustrated while reading it too, especially during the second book. I really liked the characters and the puzzleness of it though (if that makes sense xD). I liked how it was kind of a mystery you had to figure out as you read. 🙂

      • I really liked the second book because there was less romance and a lot of those creepy stuff. The final book though, left me with a lot of unasnwered questions and frustrations. Haha, still I agree with you, I liked the mystery aspect of it. 😊

    • Thank you so much! 💙😄 Haha, I just wanted to read a lot before school starts. I’ve actually been thinking about that, but I can feel that I’ll be behind my sched once I have classes and I might not reach my goal. Thank you! 💞

  5. You start school this month?? I’m off of school only a few days after you resume for a few months! I can’t believe that you’ve only had this blog for a month, you’re doing fantastic Louise! Also, good job on your great reading month 😊

  6. AHH I’m so sorry about school starting again! I’m also in Grade 11 – wait, oh my God, hahaha. I just realized in the middle of typing that that since my school year has ended, I’m now entering Grade 12. That’s so wild HAHAHA, but anyways, I hope you enjoy Cincer! I adore the Lunar Chronicles series, and can’t wait to hear your thoughts!

  7. OH MY GOSH I’m SO IMPRESSED!!! Haha we are at the same stage and it took me over a year to get here. Really, it’s super amazing that you did that in a month. 🙂 You should give me tips haha. Do you go to year round school???? I got off school on the 19!

    • Thank you so much, you are so kind! I’m really still overwhelmed on how fast my blog have progressed. Oh gosh, I’m don’t have any tips to give but you could check out my other post where I gave some advice (not really sure if it will be of help). Uhm, I don’t think so? Haha, school just always start at June here. Good luck with school!

  9. 12 books is AMAZING!! I want to finish the Mara Dyer series but I’m hesitant because everyone says the last book is disappointing and I loved the first book so much I don’t want to ruin it, haha.

Congrats on your first month of blogging 🎉🎉 I honestly wish my blog is as put together as yours is 😂 It honestly seems like you’ve been doing this for years!

Sorry about school starting for you soon ♥ I hope it all goes smoothly and isn’t too stressful!
